A few days ago we visited the old hegg turtle sanctuary in Bequia. We were touched by the story of the founder Orton ‘brother’ king.
Once a fishermanhimself, killing and eating turtles, now totally in love with those special creatures and dedicating his life to them. Keeping them safe, educate local children about them, watching the beaches for their eggs etc.
His sanctuary and house are situated at the most beautiful part of Bequia overlooking the ocean. He also has a mini farm and his love for animals is visible here as well: when we arrived there on our bikes, we were welcomed by three friendly baby goats. This was the first time here in the Caribbean that goats didn’t try to fly as soon as you come to close!
Unluckily not all the locals are as conscious about nature and animals as Orton is. Therefore we like to support his work.

Orton ‘brother’ King with his favorite turtle Busy Budy. She is 17 years old. (Those beauties can reach the respectable age of 200! My respect!)
