Yemaya on the land and in the water again

Yemaya on the land

Yemaya on the land (before painting)

In the summer it’s time again to Haul out Yemaya and do some bottom painting. Instead of the ablative anti fouling which has to be repainted each year this time we will put on a hard paint called coppercoat. This paint is much more environmental friendly and the boat doesn’t have to be repainted anymore. However you can’t paint this paint on top of old paint. The bottom had to be completely stripped. In the first picture you can see the totally white and paint free boat. The new paint is a mix from epoxy and lots of copper. In the second picture you can see the bottom shining from all this copper. It looks like the bottom is completely made from copper. The copper protects the boat against marine growth without ppoisoning the water. We are ready again for a new charter sailing season!
